What is Bank Verification Number (BVN)?

BVN stands for Bank Verification Number, which is a biometric identification system introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2014. It is a unique 11-digit number that serves as a means of identifying individuals who have bank accounts in Nigeria and reducing fraud in the banking sector.

The BVN system captures a person's biometric data, such as fingerprints and facial recognition, and links it to their bank account information. This allows for easy verification of a person's identity and bank account information across all Nigerian banks using the BVN.
